Important Notes & Tips:

 * Train vs. Flight to Amritsar: Traveling by train is well-liked and provides a positive experience with Indian railways. Although flights are quicker, airport transfers may take longer. Talk to your tour operator about your options.

* Golden Temple Etiquette: Before entering the Golden Temple complex, take off your shoes and cover your head (scarves can typically be rented or purchased). Wear modest clothing.

* Wagah Border: Because it can get very crowded, get there early to secure a good viewing spot for the ceremony.

* Cuisine: Savor Amritsar's mouthwatering Punjabi food, particularly the Amritsari Kulcha, Lassi, and regional street food.

* Visa: Prior to your trip, make sure your Indian visa is up to date.

* Weather: When packing, consider the conditions. Light to moderately warm clothing is necessary during the chilly winter months of October through March, particularly in the mornings and evenings. April through June are the hottest months.
